“You have to puke it up." When a group of girls at camp hear a rumor of strange bugs implanted under their skin, their bond fractures under the weight of paranoia, rebellion, and loyalty. As they grow older, Tisha is haunted by the memories of their defiant leader, driving her to confront her regret—and to finally decide if she has the courage to live freely or succumb to control. Adapted from Sofia Samatar’s short story of the same name, How to Get Back to the Forest was premiered at the New Original Works Festival at the Sands School of Performing Arts at Pace University.

How to Get Back to the Forest was a year-long school process. We had to find a short story and adapt it into a 20-minute show for Pace University NOW. Once my ensemble picked the story, we got right to work discovering how it wanted to be told. We created moments and experimented with ways to bring this magical, dynamic, fun, and intense show to life.
